Unmissable Insights Ahead
Where Leaders Connect: The New Orleans Forum on Climate-Linked Economics
On behalf of our outstanding program committee, I’m thrilled to update you on the New Orleans Forum on Climate-Linked Economics, January 13-16, 2025, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. We’re excited about our exceptional lineup of keynotes, invited speakers, authors, and panels designed to forge cross-industry relationships, standardize climate risk management practices, strengthen scientist-practitioner collaboration, and make essential connections between extreme weather, climate, economics, and business.
We’re excited to feature sessions led by experts from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jupiter Intelligence, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Guy Carpenter, UNC Chapel Hill, Spire, the National Weather Service, the University of Illinois, New York University, the University of Maryland, Texas A&M, Columbia University, the University at Albany, Maxar Technologies, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Keynotes will include influential voices such as Susan Crawford from Harvard Law, who will delve into climate migration and community resilience, and Bob Brammer from the American Bar Association, who will explore the future of the U.S. power grid under extreme weather conditions.
Panel discussions will bring thought leaders from the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Convective Storms, the Center for Innovation in Risk-analysis for Climate Adaptation and Decision-making, the Institute for Risk Management and Insurance Innovation, the National Science Foundation, Salient Predictions, Demex, Verisk, Synoptic Data, Everstream Analytics, Amazon, Cargill, and CoreLogic. These panels will tackle supply chain resilience, innovative insurance solutions, and real estate adaptation. We’ll offer deep insights into how sectors like banking, energy, and real estate adapt to the demands of a climate-impacted market.
Additionally, we are hosting a roundtable discussion on key regulatory developments, including the new SEC rule, the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and emerging standards from other regions. This session will bring together insights from Steve Bochanski (Lead Climate Risk Partner at PwC), Alison Heslin (Executive Director, Climate Risk at JPMorgan Chase), and a National Association of Insurance Commissioners representative. This roundtable is designed to foster knowledge-sharing and provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape in climate risk reporting.
This forum is a must-attend for professionals eager to lead the way in climate-linked economics and resilience planning. Join us in New Orleans as we come together to create a sustainable path forward in the face of pressing climate challenges.
